condenser coils

Hi Guys,
1. has any of you built a cold finger? if so how does it compare to a standard coil?
2. is there any advantage to installing a sight glass to a Boka?
3. does any one know how to make/ where to buy a sight glass?
4. do any of you insulate your columns and boilers?
i'm always interested to hear new ideas, and why you do the things that suit you.

1 cold fingers work ok, not as efficient as a double helix coil though. but they do work quite well.

2 not really, just adds "wow factor"

3 I make them, buying is fucken hopeless..... if you need some let me know, I'm making some now for my kryptonite flute and could end up with enough for a spare.

4 Yes for a 3" bok your going to need to insulate the column, yes I have a shroud around my boiler too (see boiler in show your still topic)

advise.... double wound helix coil condenser, fuck the sight glass, insulate ;)

i insulate my keg boiler with an old wool blanket when in use, it speeds up heat up and would assist in stability.

my boka has about 60cm of insulation from the plates down
but has around a 30cm gap between the keg and the insulation i need a longer piece.
it is just car roll bar looking foam (commercial refirge foam tube insulation )

insulation IMO "must" help with stability in regards to breeze and changes in outside air temps etc
again IMO stability is good but i am sure opinions differ which is also good :)

Clark rubber have meter lengths of insulation, like foam stubby coolers, you have to split to fit around column, then zip tie.

I have been meaning to Insulate mine for ages but just have'nt gotten around to it, might have to get off my arse and do something.

Sounds good, i have a roll of Aircell (silver padded Insulation) at work and a roll of 100mph tape.
i think that should do the trick :D

Most of those cheap store like the $2 shops sell those blue camping mats that roll up, these make great insulation for a reflux column ;)
