I am trying to make some white rum and was in need of a carbon filter.
Not wanting to buy one or build one( I don't see myself filtering often) I saw the potential in the pieces of my still...
So, here's my modular filter
It's my packed section (empty) on
4"-2" reducer on
500mm PC (4x 1/2" internals) on
2"-3/4" reducer with my parrot drain tap
Inside the bottom reducer I stuffed some cheese cloth then
I poured some old carbon which I got from a garage sale down the PC tubes until they were full.
This means I've got 4x 500mm long tubes of carbon for filtering.
I don't know if this is too much or not enough, any input from the filtering guys would be appreciated.
Especially about the carbon:
