After months of learning from the forum it looks like I’m building a 4 inch bubbler. I am time poor at the moment so I am only building up a prototype 4” tee, once I have figure it all out I intend to build a 5 plate plus packed section modular bubbler probably on a 50 litre boiler.
I’m using 4” stainless steel tri-clamps and ferrules and 3” screw on sight window coupled with a plumbing 4x4x3 female copper tee. They are not soldered at the moment but the important thing is they fit together. For the plate I split a short length of 4” copper and flattened it (harder job than I thought) I cut out 5 discs 106.2mm diam x 1.6mm using a jig saw then finished off the size in the lathe. I mounted a tri clamp ferrule in the 4 jaw chuck in the lathe and recessed the flange for the depth and diameter of the plate. This allows me to use the standard ribbed PTFE gasket. Still have a lot of learning to do, bubble caps/rc size/pc size/parrot size/boiler. Luckily I’m not in a hurry. Pictures may help have a look.
Cheers Gixxer
