It’s been a long time coming, I finally built a still.
I’m in Tweed Heads, North East NSW, Stainless Fabricator for the last 15 odd years. I work in Research and Development (F#%k ups and After thoughts) building robots in an indoor hydroponic farm, No, we don’t grow weed.
It does give me access to some pretty cool stuff. I work with 2 mechtronics engineers, one of them specialises I’m fluid dynamics. Also I get as much Reverse Osmosis water as I can carry.
I’ve built a dual valved reflux still, double helix condenser coil, I use copper saddles as packing, I have 2 different size saddles, so I kind of layer them, in an attempt to make different pockets of reflux if that makes sense. It’s sitting on top of a keg with a 2000W internal element, controlled with a PID, I’ve put about 5 turbo washes through It and have pulled 94% at 20C every run I’ve done, I’ve got my first TPW in the fermenters now, hopefully run it in the next few weeks.
